The Power of
Beltane
A time truly worthy of celebration!
Our ancestors would have seen the new seasonal buds as a signal that Summer is not far off, and hopes would have been high of a long warm Summer and that plentiful crops would follow.
The first day of May affects each and every one of us. Gifted or not, the feel-good factor is very much present.
The wheel of life as it slowly turns has once again brought us to the point where Spring gives way to Summer.
So from where does the name Beltane come from?
Well, as you’ve asked...
In Celtic, Bel would have been the equivalent today of bright. Teine is from the Gaelic for fire, and so the two have over the centuries become Beltane.
It actually marks the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice.
