Druids Temple
In Ripon, North Yorkshire built by William Danby
in 1820
Continuing with our articles on fascinating places, we thought this curiosity was well worth a mention.
At first glance, comparisons with Stonehenge spring to mind. Clearly, it’s an ancient Pagan structure, thousands of years old, with the circular placement of stones and its name, well is self-explanatory.
It’s a Druids Temple - another fascinating example of our ancients' ability to create the seemingly impossible in physical terms with the collecting, moving, and the specific placing of stones in order to pay homage to the sun.
Firstly, let’s tell you where it is because it's really well worth a visit. Then we’ll explain why, in fact, it isn’t actually what it seems.
The ‘Druid’s Temple of Ripon’ is located on the Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire. It’s close to the town of Masham (roughly a 10 - 15 minutes drive) and about 30 minutes from the town of Ripon.
