Just like Flower Magic as discussed in our April edition, Herb Magic again is a big subject. So we thought we'd add this piece as an addition to our Herb Chapter in our Witches Companion I. As we always say of any topic, if Herb Magic interests you, then go investigate! Research it, and practice it in a way that you are comfortable with and feels good to you.
Using herbs in magic, grounds you to nature, gifting you the energies of not just the herb’s properties but of Mother Earth herself. They have so much to offer and are very easy to work with; we love them here at Flickering HQ, they are used continually for one thing or another. Our herb garden and dried herb cupboard can never be big enough.
But do not stress if you do not have your own herb garden/window box, dried herbs are very cheap and relatively easy to purchase on the Internet, but always be guided with your gut feeling when purchasing from the Internet, as if your insecure about where you are purchasing your herbs from, this will transfer when using them.
If you have any doubt, go with your feelings and do not purchase, as it is just not your energies that are transferred to the herbs, they will come with the energy from where you just brought them. So, just in case, cleanse them, removing negative or bad energy.
Depending on your beliefs and traditions, there are various ways you can incorporate herbs into your practice, combining your

magical practices with your rituals, adding strength, creating success, gaining your desired outcome.

as well as consecrating your tools or areas.
Adding them to your incense and oils to anoint your candles is another powerful way to use your herbs. Just a happy word of warning, once you start, there is no going back, you will be hooked and will never have enough herbs. A fab addiction to have though.
However you magically use them, make sure you are comfortable, it is important that you are completely relaxed, enabling you to achieve the outcome you require.

erbs can be used directly in your spells or rituals, they also can be used for making

ever ingest herbs without researching them first. Check their properties as some are
quite toxic and will make you ill or worse. If in doubt, DO NOT do it. If pregnant, always check with your GP first that the herb you want to digest is safe for you, and your baby.
