Let’s move on and make some Butterfly ink.
You’ll need...
1 teaspoon of Saffron Threads or Strands 3 teaspoons of Arabic Gum
12 teaspoons of clear Alcohol
Making your Butterfly Ink...
Grind the Arabic Gum to a fine powder in a mortar and pestle.
Pour the alcohol into a pan and bring to the boil and allow to cool slightly.
Add the Saffron Threads to steep, till the water is a golden colour.
Strain and cool.
Add your Arabic Gum to thicken your mixture into an 'inky' texture.
(You can at this stage add an additional ingredient of 1/4 teaspoon of Dragons Blood Ink to make your ink more powerful)
Stir your mixture so everything is mixed in well.
No bottle it in dark glass bottle and seal and leave overnight if you can.
It's now ready to use. Shake the bottle each time before use.
If used on parchment paper, once dry due its golden colour, is almost invisible, almost like a watermark. So would be excellent ink to use for sigils under your written spellworks on parchment.
