Apart from any mystical properties, trees represent the very essence of the Wheel of Life and the natural cycle of rebirth. They come to life in the springtime, flourish in the summer, age in the autumn, and die in the winter - to return the following spring.
Whilst today, we don’t need firewood for warmth or timber for shelter, and we are not reliant on their fruits, nuts and berries - we do know that trees are actually essential to our existence - the Amazon and other rain forest's have often been described as the lungs of the earth.
Our ancients couldn't have possibly known the real reason that we live and breathe because of trees, owing to their ability to create oxygen.
But it does give us another dimension to the Tree of Life.
