So why the switch to eggshells?
Whilst the power of Efun exists in plant form (Cascarilla Powder) it’s also present in animal bones and eggshells.
An egg shell provides protection to the growing embryo of the Chicken, a very powerful symbol of new life.
Practitioners found eggshells amplified their sacred powder, especially from the Black Hen and, of course, were much more readily available. Hence. they transitioned from using the Cascarilla bark to crushed white eggshells.
The name persists - ‘Cascarilla Powder’ has a ring about it and a history that ‘Crushed Eggshells’ just cannot compete with.
So let’s move on....
Cascarilla can be used in numerous ways. It can be pressed into a chalk. You can mix it with water and a little resin, and then you can use it as a paint.
Magically, it can provide a barrier between this world and other realms. At the same time, it’s a tincture that practitioners can choose to protect and cleanse themselves.
Such powerful stuff! It protects against malevolent magic, unwanted and bad energies, and negative entities, whilst cleansing at the same time.
So how do you use it?
.
Let's look at powder first.
Sprinkle it around your altar, home and body to ward off unwanted negative energies.
Add some to your warding recipes to enhance their power.
Dust your hands in the powder. If you are meeting a lot of people shaking hands, it will protect you from their energies so they cannot be transferred.
Dress your protection and cleansing candles and incorporate into your incense to amplify the strength.
Add to your floor wash to cleanse your house of negative energy and keep unfriendly and unwelcome spirits out.
You could encircle your house in a protective circle using the powder, but you may need an awful lot of it for this, so add it to your ingredients to help amplify it instead.
.
It is also a wonderful cleanser of the auric field, so add some to your bath, it really is very effective.
As you read this, you are waiting for the ‘how to’ but before we get there, let’s look at the chalk uses...
Use to draw sigils or sacred symbols.
Mark boundaries around your sacred area or altar. You can decorate sacred items with it, with markings.
Whilst we touched on this previously, where it can be used as paint, it’s normally used on the body for rituals, but can be used on anything you want.
There are many ways you can use Cascarilla Powder but it’s essential that you are comfortable and feel it’s good for you. We recommend you do a little research. Find your own way and as always we say to you make the practice your own. If it feels right to you, then it’s right!
