Most people's first choice is the kitchen windowsill, as that is where herbs are most often used. However, if you're lucky enough to have your own witches parlour dedicated to your path, then you can always grow them there.
Once you have chosen your spot, what next?
Think about what you are going to plant them in - some herbs such as mint or sage will grow rampant and take over your garden if you let it, so investigate the herbs you want to grow.
If in doubt, start simply by potting them individually, they can then only grow to the pot they are planted in.
There are some wonderful pots out there (top left hand picture is from Amazon Prime and is only £10.99 includes delivery), but normal plastic pots will do. Make sure they have drainage holes, and you protect wherever you are placing them from watering, as it will seep through the bottom of the plant pot.
Then what?
Growing your Own Basic Herb Garden Indoors
In this article we look at how to grow your own herb garden indoors. Growing herbs indoors is not difficult even for a beginner, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of home grown herbs for your culinary requirements and magical uses. It will also add some fragrant greenery to your home which will always brighten your day and make you smile.
So where to start...
First, pick a good location for where you intend to grow your garden. Most herbs need 6 hours a day sunlight to flourish, so a south facing window sill would be ideal if you have one. If not, choose a windowsill or table that gets as much light as possible.
There are also many Plant Grow Lights out there that are inexpensive and will allow you to put your garden anywhere. Well worth investigating if you feel you don’t have en- ough sunlight..
Choose what herbs you would like to grow, and purchase your herb seeds. A little word of advice; some herbs are harder to grow than others, so research them when choosing to make sure it will be something your green fingers (or not) can cope with.
Extend your research to understand the properties of your herbs, see how you can use them culinarily and also magically, understand their purpose. Plus, some herbs really should not grow next to others as they do not agree with each other.

How to plant your herb seeds
For hard outer shell seeds, the day before planting get a little pot for your herb, or various if planting more than one herb and fill with water. Then place your herb seeds in the water and leave for 12-24 hours, but no more, for a good pre (potting) soak. It is not essential, but soaking herb seeds helps soften the hard outer shell increasing their germination rates.
