The dreamcatcher web catches the bad dreams during the night and disposes of them when the sun rises. The feathers act as a fluffy, pillow-like ladder that allows the good dreams to gently waft down to the sleeping person undisturbed.
According to some American Indians, the beads symbolise the spider—the web weaver.
Others believe the beads symbolise the good dreams that could not pass through the web, immortalised in the form of sacred charms.
