If you are lucky enough to live by the coast, you can go to the shore and use the energy to charge and cleanse any of your magical tools. Do so one at a time, don’t rush it, just focus on the vast power of the body of water that lies before you.
However, unless you know of a very secluded ocean or seafront area, you just might be a little conscious of doing this when any ungifted are around. So, simply collect a jar of the sea or ocean water, focusing on its power, and take it home with you. Don’t forget to say thank you. Use it to empower or cleanse your tools as though you were there on the shorefront.
If you are a townie and you went to the shore to breathe in its magic, then go prepared with jars and bring it home! Add to the energy by gathering a few seashells - it doesn’t matter if they are whole or parts of.
A saltwater bath for your crystals will achieve a pure energy cleansing, resetting their healing properties to an optimum level, as saltwater has an ability to draw away the negative energies stored in stone. Seawater would be perfect, giving it much more power.
Either take them with you and sit on the shoreline holding them in your hand cleansing them in the sea (just don’t let them go) or put them in little organza bags for safety, and holding on the strings tightly, let them dance freely as they cleanse. You can still do this at home, with thanks, just collect the seawater.
Before dipping or submerging your crystals in any water, especially seawater, please get to know your crystal. There are many that do not like water and will damage or dissolve them. Seawater to some can also be highly corrosive, so always check first.
Use some of your seawater for a cleansing, energising bath. Run your bath, add a good cup of your seawater and add your cleansed recharged crystals, then add the seashells you have collected (wash them first,) and make sure there are no sharp bits!
Light some candles and get in the bath and relax, let the stones that you have charged by the power of the sea do their magic. Let the calm overwhelm you
and the clarity of mind flow over you. Allow yourself to gently drift on the tide. Re Energise!
We are aware that proactive practitioners who embrace the power of the seas also create seashell Runes.
Whilst it’s easy to buy Runes, to make your own from seashells gathered by yourself would not only be very self-gratifying, but it would also make them much more powerful, as they would be unique to you.
It must be your choice, but the most used of the Runes are those of the Elder Futhark.
You’ll need 25 shells, a permanent marker pen, and research each of the symbols. Remember one must be blank. Your personalised shell Runes should be bagged and boxed when not in use.
Even though there are many practitioners who practice sea magic regularly or even solely, you do not have to identify yourself as a sea witch in order to connect to this wonderful natural source of energy. So do give it a try, you will seriously be surprised how much it works and how easily you can incorporate it into your everyday rituals.
When you are working with the sea, even if its just a cleansing, energising bath, use essential oils to heighten your senses and calm your mind. Add a few drops to your bath or to your oil burner and breathe in the aroma.
Here is an energising blend that you can put together, to do just that. As always, please do experiment to find the aroma that fits and suits you best! Don’t forget to test for allergies before putting in the bath.
