Flickering Witches Kitchen
Welcome!
To our forth edition of our Witches' Kitchen.
Coud not resist putting the recipe in our magazine for this wonderful 'Witches Stew'. Its easy to do and kids love it, as they think its magical.
Ingredients
3lbs of Prime beef stewing steak or chunks 2 x Tablespoons of butter
2 x Tablespoons of flour
8oz of Beef stock
8oz of Vegatable stock
2 x tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce 6 x Carrotts sliced
1 x Large onion chopped
5 x Leeks sliced
12 x Sliced mushrooms
2 x Garlic cloves pressed
2 x Teaspoon thyme
3 x Sprigs rosemary
6 x Celery stalks sliced
6 x Medium potatoes, peeled and quartered Bacon bits & Pepper for extra flavour Add 2 x small teacups of red wine (Merlot is a nice wine to add)
This is cooked at Flickering HQ in our cooking cauldron (AKA slow cooker), on a slow cook for 6 hours, however, you can pop it on the stove to cook.
Instructions
Put on a medium heat your butter to melt. While you are waiting, sprinkle your flour and add some pepper, mix it in, and then roll your beef chunks so they are completely covered. Now add your beef to your melted butter and brown it off.
Slow Cooker
Once done add your beef into your stewing pot and all your other ingredients, stiring them in as you add them. Now pop your lid on and leave it to cook.
On the stove
Add your beef to your stewing pot, with your stock, worcester sauce and wine, then simmer for 60 minutes. Then add all your other ingredients, you may need to add a little water at this stage or some more wine. Let it simmer for another 90 minutes.
Once cooked either way, remove rosemary and serve with buttered crusty bread or french sticks.
ENJOY!
